24V Starter Setup

Guys have any of you seen a nice battery adapter that I could use on the Sullivan Dynatron starter? I want to a 24V setup so it could turn over the larger engines...

I've seen the Sullivan S642 battery box but for some reason everyone is out of them and even Sullivan no longer lists them on their site...Must be discontinued??

Then I came across this option which really looks streamline and has some cool factor but is only using an 18V battery. http://www.afineredgemfg.com/

I haven't had much experience with Makita batteries but I wonder if they have a 24V that would fit this configuration??

I sent the company http://www.afineredgemfg.com/ an e-mail asking about an adapter for a 24V battery and Kevin responded back that it probably wouldn't fit the 18V adapter but he has just released a version for a Milwaukee 28 battery pack....

: What a monster!

In true Westside fashion I should probably wait until the 60V version is released, that way in between flights I could use the battery to weed eat the field

I have tried a lot of different ways .the best I have come up with is two 3300 MAH NMHI batteries in series with a aftermarket batteries holder. fully charged it has between 17 and 18 volts. It will start my 180 Satio as well as my DLE 30. I tried lipo batteries but didn't like the fire hazard . I started with a 90 Hobbico starter. It wouldn't start the 180 Satio, so I got a 180 Hobbico starter and It wouldn't start the 180 until I cut the long wires and mounted a 12 volt battery to the starter. That worked OK , but was heavy!! Next I tried two 1800 mah NICD batteries in series. They worked OK but seam to run down if I didn't use them for while . So far I have been very happy with the NIMH.

That's similar to what I have but I didn't think it would be enough power....I think mine is the 90 size unit and my NiMH batteries are 3000 MAH...Here's a picture of my setup!

I'm also a little Leary of the Lipo charging

It may be that being a 90 instead of 180 is the difference . How big of an engine are you wanting to start?? Larger than a 30 cc gas , You will need to get one of the large starter to start 50 cc and up .

The largest would be a OS 160, DLE 35CC and a Saito 180 4Stoke Gas.... Maybe I'll just start experimenting as it warms up

My setup will start those. The 35 would probably need to fully charged.
